Fully grown plants are woody at the base and can reach about 60 cm in height. If the climate is favorable throughout the year helichrysum can give two harvests, in June and October. Our experience so far are that this will happen very rarely, if we want a quality essential oil, because for oil quality immortelle must be collected at the time of full maturity.

Helichrysum oil is anti-inflammatory, fungicidal, and astringent. This plant is sometimes used as a spice.
